Ohio State’s national championship odds expanded from +500 to +1400 on FanDuel Sportsbook after the first College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday. The Buckeyes fell to the 12th position, making them the first team currently outside the playoff field. This move marks a major repricing of their title prospects in the futures market.

The shift follows a loss to USC, where the offense struggled in its first game under new quarterback Luke Fahey. Oddsmakers and the selection committee have readjusted expectations for the program, moving them down the board despite their remaining schedule. Indiana, the other Big Ten contender, also saw its odds lengthen from +850 to +1000 after another overtime win, reflecting continued concerns about their offensive production.

Conversely, five SEC teams moved into the top 11, prompting a tightening of their championship odds. LSU moved from +1000 to +750, while Texas improved from +1400 to +1100. Alabama inched up from +1100 to +1000, Ole Miss climbed from +2000 to +1600, and Kentucky jumped from +8000 to +6000. These changes reflect the committee’s strong valuation of the SEC this season, with Alabama, Kentucky, and Texas occupying Nos. 5 through 7.

Georgia remains the market favorite at +330, having improved slightly from +420 after defeating Florida. However, the most volatile action is centered on the Saturday matchup between No. 11 Notre Dame and No. 1 Miami. Notre Dame’s odds drifted from +470 to +550 despite a win at Navy, as they sit on the playoff bubble. A victory over Miami could cause the Irish odds to shorten dramatically, potentially challenging Georgia for the top spot.

The CFP rankings diverge significantly from the AP Top 25, forcing a recalibration of the betting market. Utah and UCLA remain two of three undefeated teams but sit at +3000 and +4500, respectively, as oddsmakers remain hesitant on these surprise contenders. The market now distinguishes clearly between teams that have proven themselves to the committee and those that must still validate their standing through upcoming results.

Notre Dame and Miami are scheduled to play Saturday. The winner will likely see their odds adjust in the next weekly update. Georgia faces its next scheduled opponent after this week, with the market currently favoring the Bulldogs to hold the top spot if they maintain their winning record.
