Brewers players hop from buses to share trophy with downtown crowds

Milwaukee Brewers players stepped off their parade buses on Thursday to hold the World Series trophy for fans in downtown Milwaukee. The team celebrated its 2026 championship with a procession that moved from the center of the city to the lakefront.

Reporter Mary Stoker Smith spoke with manager Pat Murphy during the event. Murphy later rode in the back of a pickup truck while fans cheered. Pitcher Brandon Woodruff held the trophy while answering questions from the press.

The organization honored the 1982 American League champion team throughout the day. Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Ted Simmons, and Rollie Fingers spoke with media members about the current roster. Molitor discussed the 2026 group and its impact on Wisconsin. Simmons noted that the new title validates the 1982 squad's legacy.

Players showered spectators with champagne as the buses moved through the streets. The group stopped in front of the Bob Uecker mural in downtown Milwaukee. Players and fans gathered there to celebrate and drink Miller Lite.

The team distributed shirts, baseballs, and bottles of wine to the crowd. Outfielder Garrett Mitchell posed for photos with a child. As the parade neared Maier Festival Park, players removed the tarps covering their buses. The crowd reacted loudly when the players appeared.

Catcher William Contreras and shortstop Sal Frelick also participated in the parade. Frelick and Contreras answered questions from reporters during the ride. The event concluded with the team reaching the lakefront area.
