Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation made the announcement on Monday night. The news ends a period of speculation that began days earlier when the rapper concluded his recent concert tour in Southern California.

Roc Nation, Jay-Z's company, has worked with the NFL since 2019 to produce the league's entertainment presentations. During that partnership, Jay-Z told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now." That statement came seven years before the current announcement. The partnership structure has remained in place while other artists headlined the halftime show, including Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd.

The announcement featured a video of Jay-Z seated in SoFi Stadium surrounded by goats. The clip included the caption "GOAT's out of the bag." This venue holds recent personal history for the artist, who finished his "Jay-Z 30" concert run there over the weekend. The tour started with three shows at Yankee Stadium in New York, moved to London, and concluded in California.

Born Shawn Carter, Jay-Z has won 25 Grammy Awards and received 89 nominations. His nomination count is the second highest in history, behind his wife, Beyoncé, who has performed at two Super Bowls. His discography includes "Reasonable Doubt," "The Blueprint" and "The Black Album." Hit songs from his catalog include "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)," "99 Problems" and "Empire State of Mind." His 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," entered the Grammy Hall of Fame last year.

Jay-Z co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and established Roc Nation in 2008. The company now manages artists and athletes across music publishing and sports. He became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. He joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

In the hours following his last performance, his songs rose on streaming charts and music discovery platforms. The next morning, Bad Bunny held the top six spots on Spotify's Top 50 U.S. chart, with another song at No. 8. Eleven other Bad Bunny tracks ranked in that top 50 list at the same time. Jay-Z's 2027 performance will mark his return to the primary halftime stage after a seven year gap since his last confirmed slot.
