Thai police arrested a 54-year-old Israeli man in Bangkok on suspicion of using drugged cakes to facilitate sexual encounters with women he met through dating apps. The operation took place last Friday in the Huai Khwang district, where officers from the narcotics suppression unit and immigration police conducted a joint raid.
The probe began after a hotline tip identified an Israeli man with an eagle tattoo on his left arm. The informant described how the suspect invited women to his apartment and served them homemade cakes. According to the tip, the women experienced hot flashes and increased arousal after eating the cakes, leading to sexual encounters that the suspect allegedly recorded without their knowledge.
Major General Teeradet Thamsuthee, deputy chief of Bangkok police for narcotics, led the investigation. During surveillance, officers watched multiple women enter and exit the apartment. The suspect, identified by Thai media as Tomer Kahiri, was known locally by names including Tom and Tom Yum Kung. Police noted he lacked regular employment but maintained a comfortable lifestyle.
Officers entered the apartment and seized 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 50 packaging bags, an electronic scale, and a tray of cakes. They also took a mobile phone containing messages about drug purchases and numerous intimate videos. The videos showed sexual encounters on a sofa in the apartment, which police stated were filmed without the participants' consent. A 44-year-old Thai woman was also arrested at the scene.
During the raid, Kahiri claimed the drugs did not belong to him. He told officers he had connections to an influential person who could secure his release within two hours. He demanded the names of the officers involved and threatened to have them transferred or fired, according to the police statement. He also allegedly threatened to kill one of the officers.
Kahiri overstayed his visa by 2,095 days, a period of nearly six years. He faces charges for possessing a dangerous drug, overstaying, refusing a drug test, and disobeying law enforcement. The Thai woman arrested with him is suspected of possessing and using methamphetamine. Laboratory results for the cakes have not yet been made public.
Both suspects and the seized evidence were moved to the Huai Khwang police station. Kahiri denied all allegations, describing himself as a former Israeli soldier and textile exporter. He said he moved to Thailand after separating from his partner because he loved the country. Police have not yet formally charged him with drugging women or recording intimate encounters without consent.
